Efficiency of combination treatment using topical immunotherapy in patients with chronic salpingoophoritis

Abstract

Purpose of the study. To enhance the efficiency of combination treatment using topical immunotherapy in patients with chronic salpingoophoritis.

Material and research methods. Seventy-five patients aged 25 to 36 years, who had been admitted to a gynecology department with a diagnosis of tuboperitoneal infertility caused by chronic salpingoophoritis for elective diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopy, were examined. After the women gave a preliminary voluntary written consent, their blood was taken to determine the serum concentrations of the neutrophil antimicrobial peptides HNP1-3. According to the performed treatment, all the examined patients were divided into 2 groups:

1) 37 patients in whom, in addition to surgery and antibiotic therapy, the immunotropic drug Superlymph was incorporated into combination treatment for infertility;

2) 38 patients who received standard treatment, control group comprised 15 women without a history of gynecological diseases who had been admitted to hospital for painful ovarian apoplexy.

Research results and their discussion. The investigation has shown that the incorporation of the immunotropic drug Superlymph promotes hyperproduction of the antimicrobial peptide HNP1-3 that plays a key role in the activation of innate immunity and in the antimicrobial protection of the genital tract mucosa in the combination treatment of patients with chronic salpingoophoritis. This results in a reduction in relapse rates of an inflammatory process in the uterine appendages and an improvement of reproductive function.

Conclusion. The developed procedure and assessment of long-term treatment results may lead to the conclusion that surgical correction of infertility in combination with topical immunotherapy is effective in patients with tub peritoneal infertility caused by chronic salpingoophoritis.
